Review: Lush's I Love Juicy

*Gasp* I'm doing a review for the first time in two years.

I have become obsessed with this shampoo thanks to +Hunter. People take hint she is great at getting people to buy products. I don't know at the products I have bought because she has talked me into it. She doesn't even have to be looking at you and she can sell you on something.

If you read her blog you know she is super obsessed with Big Shampoo from Lush. However, that shampoo is not recommended for people who color their hair. And even though I have been letting my natural strawberry start showing I'm holding on to the last of my bleached locks! So I have been using what Hunter says is the liquid version of the shampoo Big that isn't as abrasive as Big. This is called I Love Juicy

I get an oily scalp after a regular day and a day of dry shampoo and this knocks it out!!! It's fabulous at getting hair squeaky clean. Dry shampoo, pool gunk, hair chalk, it takes it all out. I do not recommend it for daily use because that will really dry out your scalp and that's not good either for your scalp.

I can tell that it adds volume and shine. It really gives my hair a boost which my other many shampoos that I have bought before this would do but it would be the next day and back to oily and heavy. This isn't the case with this product.

The smell is a very earthy-citrus smell. At first I wasn't sure if I was going to like the smell or not but I really do love it. It lathers great in your hands and in your hair. It feels like you just went to the salon. You know when you walk around the mall swishing your hair... But that might just be me that does that.

I give a 5/5 Stars. I don't think I can live without this now.

Holiday Beauty

So the holidays are completely in full swing, a week from tomorrow is Christmas Day! Wow... Time flew once December got here. That is a good thing (school) and a bad thing (enjoying the fun). Below are few holiday looks with make-up for you to try! I will be trying a few of them myself for the parties I have left.

The last one is the one I am looking forward to try the most. I know it's not my usual vintage style, but I like that it's different. People wouldn't be expecting so simple. I have already been to a few Christmas parties so these will be what I will try for the remaining ones. I hope you enjoy them like I did.

Vampire Beauty.... Or Ugly?

Welcome to Vampire Week here on Decoding Odette.... Enjoy!

We all know that Stephanie Meyer turn vampires into something pretty. However, vampire features are not always gorgeous. Step back and thinks for a second would you really like having vampire beauty flaws? Not really once you think of them in a daily concept it's not a pretty picture.

Do you really like having big dark circles under eyes? Nope. So make sure to use eye make-up remover before going to bed to wash off mascara and eyeliner. Getting plenty of rest can also help from getting the look of not sleeping for years. Also getting a good vitamin supplement will help reduce that as well. Because a stated fact is now coming full circle that dark circles under eyes add to your age worse than wrinkles and grey hair. Alcohol can also cause dark circles for lack of nutrients and lack of sleep. Allergies play a role in dark circles under your eyes. Eating well is another way to improve discoloration around the eyes. Nasal congestion can also cause dark circles to appear. Examine your smoking habit and decide to quit. Smoking causes vascular (blood vessel) problems that can not only threaten your life, but also make your blood vessels appear more prominent and bluer.

Pale skin is ok. But seriously too pale is just gross. I do not tan well at all, therefore, I am quite pasty white. However, I do not hide from the sun. I love a nice subtle glow. I also don't try to darken my face with dark blush because that makes your face look boney. Last thing you want a beauty day is to make your face look sunken. Embrace the sun a smidgen. SPF 15 is now in most really good beauty products. So stop lurking in the shadows. I promise you won't turn into dust. Also add some bronzing and shimmer to your face. (Twilight isn't completely bad, shimmering is a good thing.)

Do not be so vile, just smile. Honestly, smiling actually improves your mood. A study in psychology showed students that watched a funny video clip laughed and thought the clip was a lot more hilarious with a pin in their mouth sideways than the students that didn't have an object forcing them to smile. It's a reflex in our body (except people with autism and other special needs) to smile when we are smiled at by someone. I love that in humans. So smile, it increases your face value. I hate people who don't smile in their pictures trying to look sexy or whatever. You look stupid and mean.

Thirsty? Blood hungry? You can solve that gleam in your eye quite easily. Proven fact that people who eat are much more content than people who haven't ate. So please on behalf of the civilized world that has to deal with you eat. And for those of you thinking the world is just a rotten cruel place. Remember we aren't here for happiness. We are here to praise God and for Him to bring us back home. So, smile, complain less, and give God the glory. Things can always be worse and if you think they can't message me. I'll give you a whole set of problems you haven't thought of just yet.

What the Future Holds?

I love dreaming about the future. Everyone talks about my busy schedule. God and I work together on my schedule. I pray to him about my schedule all the time. I go to God with everything. I will be worrying about something that I shouldn't be and I stop myself tell God that I need him.

The thing is I also love the present. I look forward to everyday. I have sorrows. Every person does, but things are different when you realize just how awesome it is to be alive. I have so many young teenagers tell me that they don't make anyone's day. Sometimes that problem lies within ourselves. Even if you don't feel like it smile and help someone else out. It will put a smile on your face and theirs too hopefully.

I try to be an upbeat person, but there are those who criticize me for that because "nobody can be that happy." I break down, but I quickly remember as I look around at what else God has given me. I'm wearing clothes, eating food, spending time with my friends, able to read my favorite books, receiving a higher education, breathing, living in a house, cherishing my family, and serving my Lord without prosecution. If those aren't blessings you need to check yourself and your priorities. If those aren't your priorities then that's why you feel like you aren't worth something.

Every month I take two days to myself. One of those I clean my house and reorganize everything. Things are put back in proper places and my house shines and smells incredible. The other day is for me. I start out by spending a whole hour or two reading the Bible. I proceed to get a bath. I go all out for a bath with bubbles, salt, fizzes, confetti, candles, special soaps and sponges. I put my towels in the dryer and fix the portable DVD player with a movie. Normally I take a glass of wine with me and just relax and enjoy the bath and the movie. These bathes aren't like my detox bathes ones a week. I let my hair go for the day and buff and clean my nails and toe nails.

Those are the days I love. Those moments when all I think about are me. I'm not a selfish person except those days. Those two days are it for me during each month. It's a chance to really think about everything but not HAVE to think about anything if I don't want to think about it.

So with that being said God and I have special surprise in honor of Halloween October 22 - 28 will be Vampire week and October 29- November 4 will be Zombie Week here on Decoding Odette. Yes, even the religious posts will be on those subjects. You can thank my preacher for that. :)

Needs More Color

Today has been a day, but I started this blog with the determination in mind. I am not going to slack on the blogging too much. I care about my blog way too much to do that. I'm sorry that they are coming at night now. I will really work on posting blogs.

So part of my problem for not posting blogs? Polyvore. Yes, I spend hours on end working with a color wheel creating outfits that I will probably never wear or come close to wearing with the exception of the things I buy while making the outfits which a lot of people's mouth drop when I say that, but I have a budget that I have for myself if I can afford it I'm going to buy it.

I want to share with you a few of my creations:

I love doing outfits. I love requests from certain events, to personalities, to characters and even lyrics. I like challenges with this. Even I'm amazed by what I'm able to come up with when people ask for certain things. It's been a lot of fun for me. I really enjoy doing the requests. Please feel free to send me requests.

Steps to Great Skin

Well summer has officially ended for almost everyone (YAY! Sorry I hate hot weather) and that means that your skin has probably been the last thing on your mind with the exception of sunburn. Your skin is probably a little dry (drier if you have spent time in the sun, tanning.) R. Patrick Abergal, MD, a dermatologist, says "A simple skincare routine is all you need to get and keep your great skin."

If a product tells you that it will be an overnight miracle beware! Chances are give it time and your skin will have a different problem because of the "miracle" ingredient. Also, you need to get to know your skin type as well so you know what products to go for to help your skin. A recent post I did called Skin Typing was where I explained how to find your skin type. So be sure to research your skin type and what products need and do not need to be used.

Abergal says it takes 3 weeks of routine regular use for any product to really show true results. There are three types of products your must have just get the ingredients right for your skin. I am fixing to go further into detail about all three of them.

Cleansers: Everyone knows that washing your face in the morning and at night is a good thing. However, some cleansers do more harm than good. That means you need to choose a facewash carefully. If you skin feels tight for a few minutes after washing, your cleanser is too harsh and that can cause major problems like zits. If a cleanser is too drying then it has a reverse affect. Your skin will freak out and overproduces oil. Find a cleanser that is lightly foaming. And be sure to rinse off all the cleanser every time you wash.

Toners: To be honest up until almost 5 months ago I had no idea these even existed and now I can't function without it. As a matter of fact I'm positive that's what my first review was on was my toner. Toners are meant to finish off the dirty job your cleanser started. They are great for people with oily skin. I happen to be a combination person and I have weird T zone because between my eyebrows is not oily but extremely dry. If you have a T zone oily skin, then swipe the toner on your T zone. How do you know if your toner has done its job? When it the cotton ball comes back completely clean without dirt, make-up, etc. I love mine because it tingles and smells fresh.

Moisturizers: Go for a lotion that's designed for facial skin (please please please do not even think about using a body or hand lotion for double-duty!) Got oily skin? You still need a moisturizer. Look for a light gel formula. Whatever brand you choose you need to make sure it has a SPF 15. You might be wrinkle-free now but unless you use sunscreen you won't like how your skin looks in 10 years.

I plan on doing more skin posts. Hope you enjoy.

Skin Typing

I have recently acquired a love for make-up. I was quick to discover that there are certain ways to keep your skin looking healthy, even after cleansing. In finding that I also discovered something else, certain products that my friends raved about just didn't work for me. I learned why, I have a different skin type than them.

I strongly suggest going to a dermatologist. I learned so much by going to mine here in my area. Like with any doctor you need to be honest. Not honest as possible, just plain honest will help you get the best care. Write down medications, what you eat, and what you use on your skin before going because all of those factor in to what your skin looks like.

There are four major skin types. They are based on how your skin feels and looks. For further information on your skin, like I said I highly recommend a dermatologist.

If you skin belongs to a normal type, the tissue will not reveal any traces of oil. Your skin should feel vibrant, elastic, and supple. Normal skin is the least problematic type.It looks clean and smooth and has a good circulation and healthy complexion. Even with a minimum care, it will look good well into your advanced age.

If your skin is dry, the paper (regular paper sometimes will work, but beauty oil absorbing blotting paper will work better) will be clean, too, but your face skin will feel flaky, dry, and tight after you have wiped it. Dry skin can easily develop a sallow tone, wrinkles, and fine pores, and it is very prone to aging and irritating. It might still look great on a young person, but, to keep it healthy, you should apply thorough care and use regular skin or beauty treatment with natural masks and moisturizers.

If you have oily skin, the paper will have spots of facial oil on it, corresponding to the areas of your cheeks, nose, and forehead.Oily skin is problematic – it usually looks greasy, thick, coarse, and shiny, has enlarged pores, and tends to break into acne. A good thing, though, is that oily skin is not prone much to aging and wrinkling. Careful cleaning, minimizing of carbohydrate consumption, and avoiding rich creams can be helpful in improving the quality of oily skin.

If you skin is combination, like that of most women, the tissue will have traces of oil coming from your nose and forehead, but will be clean in the areas that touched your cheeks. Combination skin has patches of both dry and oily skin, and it requires different types of care in relation to particular facial areas. Dry zones, which are usually located on the cheeks and around the eyes, should be treated with rich creams and moisturizers, while oily areas, usually on the forehead and nose, will benefit from frequent and thorough cleaning.

Monica: I’m sorry. I’m sorry. I should probably leave you girls alone.
Ross: Yeah, laugh all you want but in ten minutes we’re gonna have younger looking skin!
Knowing what kind of you helps you give the best care to your skin. Caring for your skin through products, food, what medicines you take and also the rest of your health. So you are doing your whole body a favor by finding out.

Happy Monday!

Caboodle

My stepmom had one of these hard shell make-up holders when I was little. It was green and purple and closed with light pink heart snap. She had kept her make-up in it, but she noticed I loved to play with the box and she put her make up away in a cabinet and gave me the caboodle! I put my paper dolls in there to keep up with all the pieces especially Disney's and Barbie's their paper dolls came with shoes.

On a side note, here lately I have been buying paper dolls on ebay and in-stores. I pray that one day I will have a daughter that they loved paper dolls as much as I did when I was a child. If not then perhaps I will have a niece that can enjoy them.

Anyhow, I never had make-up to put in it even when I got older. I know it went on to house Legos for my brother and I believe he broke it. It wasn't until the other day when I was going through my Make-Up Circle on Google+ and one of the make-up woman I follow had a post that made me squeal with delight! Phyrra was talking about a giveaway that Caboodle will be doing a give away when they get to 200k likes on Facebook. They are at 194k right now, so I'm urging you, go like Caboodles now!

There will be 25 winners that will receive many Caboodle products as well as some other sponsor goodies. However, with the trips I have coming up I can't wait until then to see if I'm even a winner. I need something to carry my make-up supplies in now for trips. I bought mine this morning while Chris was walking Abby before we both left for work. I bought the Caboodle Grande Train Case in Adore. It is houndstooth!

I also ordered a bag to carry hair products and other make-up needs in as well. I ordered the Caboodle 'It' bag in Le Sophistique which is really several bags inside as well but you can take out and mix in what bags you do or don't want to carry.

So I am pretty excited about our Disney trips coming up. Plus these will be great for the weekends that we go to tailgate. However, I am thinking of getting one like I used to have even though it won't be two toned. I think it will be a nice childhood reminder. Who knows that might be where I keep those paper dolls until it is time to use them. :)

Beauty Tips

  • If you have oily or pimple-prone skin, your pillowcase could be your worst enemy. Oil and dirt collect on it and rub on your skin, so change the case a couple times a week.
  • Have pimples on your chin or jawline? Could be all that talking on the phone! Really! Pressure and bacteria from the phone receiver can irritate your skin. The solution: Don't press it against your face and clean the receiver daily with astringent. Or swap to a blue-tooth device.
  • Suds your skin using small, upward, circular motions. Pulling it downward damages your skin's elasticity.
  • To ease the ouch of tweezing, dab teething gel on your brow area with a cotton-swab before you pluck.
  • To prevent little bumps after plucking your brows, wipe the area with astringent or witch hazel.
  • To hide a really red pimple, tone down the red by using a green cover-up, and like many people I recommend using Physician's Formula.
  • Once you've covered up that zit, be delicate when applying foundation. Pat it over your blemish; don't rub.
  • When putting on eyeliner, look downward into a mirror. This makes your lid flatten out so it's easier to draw a straight line.
  • To still look good at midday, freshen up your foundation, lightly spritz your skin with water, then re-blend with a dry makeup sponge.
  • Just 'cause you get a free brush with your blush doesn't mean it's your best bet. A makeup brush with a pencil-length handle makes blush application way easier.

  • OK: Here's another one for germ-phobic chicas. Dip a clean orangewood stick into your foundation bottle instead of using your finger. Toss the stick after each application to keep the bottled makeup sanitary.
  • For light hold with no goop factor, spritz wet hair with hairspray, then dry and style.
  • Boost a deep-conditioning treatment by wrapping your hair in aluminum foil.
  • When choosing a blowdryer, remember: The higher the wattage, the faster it'll dry your hair.
  • Remove product buildup from brushes (except natural bristle ones) by soaking 'em in warm water plus a few drops of white vinegar.
  • When drying your hair, hold the dryer at least eight to 10 inches from your hair. When styling, hold your dryer four to six inches from your hair.

  • Double your rinse time: If it takes two minutes to rinse all the shampoo outta your hair, spend double that time--like, four minutes--rinsing out the conditioner.
  • If you have thick hair, take a tip from the pros and divide your hair in sections, then work on drying just one section at a time.
  •  Don't weight your hair down by conditioning strands that don't need it! Work conditioner through the ends only--and avoid the roots.
  • Tangled tresses? Gently comb through your hair after applying conditioner.
  • Always aim the air from your blowdryer down the length of your hair. Directing the air upward roughs up your hair's outer cuticle, cutting down on that great natural shine.
  • To help your style stay put, switch your blowdryer to cool as you finish each section.
  • Swipe nails with a nail polish remover-soaked cotton ball before you apply polish. This'll remove any oil residue and make the polish you apply last longer.
  • Don't shake that polish bottle--it causes air bubbles, which can ruin your manicure. Roll it between your palms instead!
  • Wouldn't it bum you out if you ruined your new paint job before it even dried? Wait three to five minutes after applying your last coat of polish before spraying your nails with quick-dry.
  • Don't use your nails as tools--dial the phone with a pencil; use your knuckle to flip light switches; open soda cans with a spoon.
  • No time for a manicure? Run a white nail pencil under the tips of your nails for a quickie French manicure effect.

No Princess Beauty Here

I have been to 3 different Disney Parks and one thing I know is a fact about all of them? The hair that the Princesses have is T-totally fake. Not to mention theirs is totally annoying. It's a joke to try and curl your hair for a day in the parks. Sweat, suntan lotion, oil, humidity, all add up to make hair one hot mess. I've also been to Disney World when they had records lows, still hair curled or fixed is not going to work.

I had a mission for this upcoming trip to Disney. I want my hair to be fixed but in a way it will still look good after the humidity, sweat, wild rides, and the day has taken it toll on it. So I have come up with a few solutions:

  • Polished Ponytail - Blow dry, loosely roll, pull back and add a dab of smooth gel or wax to tame flyaways.

  • Braided Updo - Apply texturizing mousse to damp hair and allow it to air dry. Wrap sections of hair around a 1-inch curling iron to create texture throughout your hair. Finger comb through your waves to muss them up. Make a side part, then add some gel to a wide-toothed comb and run it through the larger part, setting the waves into place. For the crown braid, tie away the smaller parted section of your hair. Flip your head over, then taking the bottom half of the larger part, split it into three sections and begin dutch braiding. Each time you move a section of hair to the middle, add more hair traveling up your head and curve as you do so to create the crown. Once reaching the center of your head, undo the elastic and continue braiding down your head. Finish braiding all of your hair, tying it with an elastic. Wrap the braid around the crown and pin the ends under with bobby pins. - Via

  • Double French Braid on both sides - Self explanatory

Now there are nights where Chris and I have reservations to restaurants where you have to come really dressed up (think guys in jackets and ties) and I will have my hair sprayed with hairspray. Lol

Besides hair there is other things to consider while attending the Disney parks.

  • Sun exposure. I like spray-on sunblock. I have very fair skin so I use an SPF of 45-75.
    • I love my foundation from Estee Lauder foundation because it has SPF in it. (I am posting links to all of the products I think will be useful as well as the ones I use like my foundation.)
    • Another thing is wearing lip balm with a SPF in it as well.
    • Also using a hat is advisable. All sorts of hat styles are good. Just be able to conceal them on rides.
    • Sunglasses are recommended as well. I found a tip from a fellow Disney lover that buys cheap bulk batches of sunglasses that way if they get lost or stolen it isn't a big deal.
  • Shoes..... I hate seeing people try to wear heels and such shoes to Disney Parks. If you are going to a nice restaurant fine but to wear heels to get on Space Mountain or Soarin' it makes almost everyone you come across roll their eyes at you. Wear tennis shoes, flat shoes, or sandals.
  • As hot and humid as it normally is I most always take a very light weight jacket. I get cold easily.
  • Purse? Cross body, lanyard, or wristlet.... That's the only kind of bags I'm bringing into the parks unless its to water parks or Animal Kingdom and then I take a beach bag with a change of clothes but the bag stays in the locker.
  • Make-up besides foundation and powder? I say maybe a tint of blush and highlighter in the inner corner of the eyes. DO NOT put on mascara, eyeliner, or eyeshadow unless you don't rub your eyes or you don't mind redoing your make-up.

Atleast I won't look like a total pig standing beside them.

It's Not Bieber Fever It's Baby Fever and Couple Fun

Or at least around my family and friends it is. Its not "baby baby baby oooooh" it is more of "baby baby baby n-yess." There are so many in my family and friends that its hard to keep up with who is how many weeks and things; who wants what kind of birth and this and that. Though, I will admit reading this stuff for everyone has peaked my interest in knowing about babies which helps me in the future for when I decide it's time to start a family.
It has really opened my eyes to things that I never thought about having a baby. So many things factor into having a baby and providing for it. What kind of products to buy, what the mother can do to protect her baby even more in the womb, and what kind of medical attention should it receive, etc. Though, one this is for certain about me; that I'm waiting until two rings on my left hand.

And, on that subject, things are even more amazing since I wrote about Chris the last time. Yep, in two days it has gotten even more amazing....
Couples' Bucket List
If you click on World Travel list I have now accomplish number 1 on that side!!! Yes it came true on Tuesday night and also in front of it too. Which makes Chris even more amazing to me. Which after reading this article.....Only one thing was running through my head.... Couple Bucket List..... Sigh. Okay minus the sex side but that can come after I have those two rings.
I learned something this weekend. I'm no longer a girl. I'm actually a woman at this point. Therefor, I demanding more respect. That's why when someone got up in my face about how Chris couldn't be the way he was it was where I was just naive I slammed it back at them. He might not be perfect, but besides the man that walked across the water during the storm tell me who has been. The best thing is that Chris believes that man walked on the water as well!
With that being said tomorrow will be a month with Chris and like I have said this relationship has already brought so much to my life. I'm hoping to deepen what we have been making a Relationship Bucket List of things we both want to do together. All times of the year so this might be a long list when we are finished.
I am looking forward to seeing where he wants to take the relationship and how to make it grow. I think it will set a standard for us. Standards are set so people can rise above them.

Boyfriend Make-Up Tag

Bonjour de Paris!
We arrived in Paris last night. I was really nervous about meeting my family from my mum's side but everything went quite well since they met us at the airport. It was really quite strange. I was exhausted, but the excitement of seeing them brought adrenaline rushes through me but more on that later. I am spending my day with them today and tomorrow is some time with them for a little bit then the rest of the day me and Chris time. I'm writing this sort of early. I'm already dressed and ready to go. By the time I publish this it will be 9ish in the morning here and about 2ish in the night for people back home.

I came across a video recommended by LisaFreemontStreet. I loved it. It made me laugh and smile the entire time! I think it is a wonderful idea. Something I would have never thought about even doing. Though, the video was so cute and amazing.

I believe that when we return to the state one of mine and Chris's future dates will be to let him put my make-up and see what happens. I know it will be fun. Lol I'm really hoping though that mine doesn't come out like hers but I still hope Chris will have fun and play around with it. Though this reminded me of the episode of Friends (click the link to watch the clip of:) when Rachel had broken her rib and couldn't put her make-up on. So I think we may watch Friends, drink coffee and let him do my make-up for a date. Oh well I am going to enjoy today with my mom's family.

Review: Victoria's Secret Fashion Tape

I am not one for wearing scoop or V neck shirts. I really hate shirts that when I am wearing them they droop down and suddenly when I lean over you can see everything underneath my shirt. Especially my summer clothes are like that and I really hate that because I love flowing shirts just one problem they like to slide down. It helps with a tank top underneath but its not always flattering. I finally remembered I had some tape from my senior prom where I was wanting the dress to stay stuck with me. I was amazed at this tape! I've recently tried another brand but I must say I still love Victoria's Secret brand a lot more.

You get 36 for $10.
Easy to use:
  • Start with a clean, dry surface
  • Press one side of tape firmly onto skin or fabric
  • Remove backing on other side and press fabric firmly into desired position.

I recommend these to anyone. I love being able to go about my day not worrying if I'm showing to much or not. The tape works really well with all kind of fabric. I highly recommended it. Double-Sided Stylist-Tape
